Mike Mostofi retired from the FBI on December 29, 2023, after 22 years of dedicated service. Mike joined the FBI in February of 2002 as Farsi Contract Linguist in Houston. In December of 2002 he was converted to full-time employee as Farsi Language Analyst and was transferred to New York Division. During his service as Language Analyst Mike had the opportunity to work on several high-profile cases and provided translation, interpretation and cultural awareness services. He traveled to several domestic and international temporary duty assignments including a TDY to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In 2011 Mike was selected as a Foreign Language Supervisor for the Houston Division where he worked until his retirement. In this role he managed different language programs including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Vietnamese, and Farsi. He also served as president of the Houston Division Recreation Association for two years. Mike assumed duties as the Society’s Treasurer in the summer of 2025.
Mike is a native of Iran and came to the US in January of 1978 to continue his education obtaining his Master’s Degree in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Mike has been married to his wife, Susan, for 36 years and they have two children, Areea an Industrial Engineer, and Mona, a successful Interior Designer.
