Retiring on August 31, 2022, Steve Volkman served over 14 years with the FBI, entering on duty in 2008 as the Administrative Officer (AO) of the Honolulu Division and transferred to the Houston Division in 2011. In addition to his AO duties, he also served as an Adjunct Faculty member for the FBI’s Leadership Development Program (2012 – 2022), as a member of the FBI Director’s AO Advisory Council from 2016 – 2018, and Mentor in the AO Mentorship Program (2019 – 2022). He accepted the position of our Society’s President-Elect at the national conference in Nashville, Tennessee in November 2025.
Steve has more than 32 years of military service, retiring from the United States Army in 2007 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after serving as a Military Police Soldier and Human Resources Manager. He is a graduate of the 164th Session (March 1991) of the FBI National Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice from Central Washington University, Master of Arts degrees in Management and Human Relations from Webster University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. He has been the Chapter Chair of the Houston Chapter of the Society of FBI Alumni since September 2023.
In addition to his work with the Society of FBI Alumni, Steve stays busy with the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and is the Senior Mentor for the 25th Military Police (MP) Company and Hawaii MP Alumni Group. Originally from the Riverdale, Illinois (south suburb of Chicago), Steve is married to Victoria Sarraf (33 years) with four children and eight grandchildren.
